Remuneration: Band 7 salary from $115,575.61 per annum plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDO
Location: Werribee based with potential for a hybrid work arrangement
About the role
The Team Leader Councillor Support is responsible for managing the day- to-day operations of the Mayor and Councillors Office, including liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
You will be responsible for co-ordinating efficient administrative and practical support to the Mayor and Councillors to ensure they effectively fulfill their civic responsibilities.
What your day will look like
- High level support to the Mayor and Councillors including timely and responsive delivery of information to support them in their role internally and externally.
- Be the liaison between members of the community and Councillors to manage and resolve complex issues.
- Preparation of correspondence and reports for the Mayor and Councillors.
- Project manage and coordinate civic events on behalf of the Mayor and Councillors.
- Provide leadership and supervision of team members to achieve department and organisational goals.
What you will bring
- Experience in a local government environment and understanding of Local Government governance functions and decision-making processes.
- Previous experience working with Councillors or in a Governance team would be highly valued.
- Leadership experience in supervising staff.
- Ability to work in a highly political and confidential environment.
- Skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning and organising your own work and that of others, in a fast-paced political environment often with conflicting priorities.
- Strong political acumen
- Mature emotional intelligence and empathetic skills.
- Ability to liaise effectively and gain cooperation and assistance from members of the public and all levels of the organisation including staff, management and councillors to resolve problems.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to contribute to the development and improvement of policies, operational processes or procedures.
- Experience with budgeting.
