About the role

Reporting to the Team Leader Councillor Support, this role acts as the first point of contact for any Mayor and Councillor enquiries.

You will be responsible for providing efficient and professional administrative support to Councillors, ensuring their day-to-day needs are met and enquiries are managed effectively.

What your day will look like

  • Efficient, responsive and professional administrative support to the Mayor and Councillors.
  • Act as a first point of contact for Councillor enquiries, including liaising with Council staff and members of the community in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Preparation and coordination of correspondence and reports for the Mayor and Councillors.
  • Coordination and scheduling of all Mayoral and Councillor appointments and activities.
  • Facilitation of Mayor and Councillors' attendance at conferences and seminars.
  • Arrange catering for all functions, meetings and events as requested by the Mayor and Councillors.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of civic and Councillor-related events, including catering, logistics, and on-the-day support.
  • Contribute to the smooth delivery of special projects, or events.

What you will bring

  • Experience in a local government environment delivering high quality administrative support.
  • Previous experience working with Councillors or in a Governance team would be highly valued
  • Ability to prioritise and manage competing demands in a fast- paced political environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that will build trust and confidence with the Mayor, Councillors, and key Council staff.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with members of the public and all levels of the organisation to achieve positive outcomes.
  • A positive approach and ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Competent with Microsoft suite of products in particular Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
