Security
Pre-Sales Consultant/ Solutions Architect to work within our Cybersecurity team.
In this role, you will provide technical expertise across multiple security domains, supporting our partners and customers.
You will play a crucial role in pre-sales engagements, solution design, proof-of-concept (PoC) execution, demonstrations, and technical enablement for various security vendors in our portfolio. This role requires the ability to effectively communicate complex security solutions and showcase their value in addressing modern cybersecurity challenges.
The ideal candidate must be available for field travel as needed to assist partners in understanding how our vendor solutions can help mitigate evolving security threats
Key Responsibilities
These can be summarised as follows:
- Provide technical solutions expertise to partners and their end users in a consultative sales environment.
- Co-own and project manage the technical elements of sales opportunities to successful closure.
- Engage with end users and resellers to help define appropriate multi-technology solutions to meet customer needs.
- Conduct training sessions, webinars, and workshops to upskill partners and internal teams on security solutions.
- Lead hands-on proof-of-concepts (PoCs) and live demonstrations to showcase the value and effectiveness of security technologies.
Support internal and external sales teams to deliver technical quotes in line with defined service level agreements (SLA's).
Maintain up-to-date technical expertise, certifications, and accreditations across various security domains, including but not limited to:
Endpoint Security
- Cloud Security
- Network Security
- Application Security
- Privileged Access Management (PAM)
Data Security
Collaborate with security vendors to understand product roadmaps, integration capabilities, and technical differentiators.
- Act as a trusted advisor for partners and customers, offering insights into security best practices, compliance requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customer and partner contacts.
- Deliver sales and technical enablement training to internal Tech Data sales teams and external reseller partners.
- Respond to partner queries promptly and provide high-quality pre-sales support.
- Leverage the Centre of Excellence (CoE) to support sales activity and enhance partner engagement.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
To be considered for this role you will need the following:
- University Degree or equivalent qualification cybersecurity, computer science, or a related field.
- Must have 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity across various security products and solutions, with expertise in at least 4 or more of the following areas: endpoint security, cloud security, network security, application security, API security, privileged access management (PAM), data security, SIEM, SOAR, MDR, XDR, DLP, mobile security, DNS security, email and collaboration security, identity and access management (IAM), IPAM, OT/ICS security and threat intelligence.
- 5+ years of experience as a pre-sales engineer, solution architect, or technical consultant for cybersecurity solutions within a distributor, vendor, reseller, or IT services provider environment.
- Ability to present complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences in a clear, compelling manner.
- Hands-on experience with security products, tools, architectures, and integrations.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Highly desired certifications: Relevant security vendor and industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, CCSP, AWS/Azure Security, etc.).
- Sound working knowledge of various technology areas, including cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), virtualization and hypervisors, Kubernetes and microservices architectures is highly desirable.
This role will require the successful incumbent to travel in the field, to help our resellers understand the inter-workings of today's complex technologies.
