Transwa is the regional division of the Public Transport Authority (PTA) and a direct provider of public transport services that connect 240 destinations across the state, from Kalbarri in the North to Augusta in the Southwest and Esperance in the Southeast.

About the role

We're looking for someone who's great with people, calm under pressure, and confident juggling a variety of tasks — from delivering quality customer service and handling cash, to thinking on their feet when challenges come up. As a Senior Passenger Assistant, you'll be the friendly face passengers count on for information, support, and a smooth, safe journey. Whether it's selling tickets or just making someone's trip a little easier, you'll be at the centre of the onboard experience.

You'll also take the lead by supervising Passenger Assistants, teaming up with Railcar Drivers to keep everything running smoothly, and stepping in when emergencies or unexpected situations arise — no two days are ever the same, and you'll play a big part in keeping things on track. You will also need to be flexible to work outside normal business hours, weekends, and public holidays.

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Considerable understanding of contemporary customer service techniques and their application within a rail hospitality environment, including cash handling and stock management.

  • Well developed relationship management skills, including the ability to develop a rapport with external stakeholder and resolve customer complaint.

  • Sound planning and organisation skills, including the ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.

  • Sound ability to prioritise task and cope with completing demands.

  • Proficient numerical skills, including the ability to undertake basic manual calculations.

Salary: REA Level 6, Wages $1,495.08 per week plus allowances, aggregation (pro rata) and 11.5% superannuation

This is a permanent part-time (72 hours per fortnight) opportunity within Transwa, available for an immediate start. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies both fixed term and permanent that may arise within the next 12 months.

*To be eligible to work permanently at the PTA you must be either an Australian Citizen, have Permanent Residency status or hold a current visa with permanent working rights in Australia.
