As our Driver Trainer, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the performance, safety, and professionalism of our owner-driver team. From onboarding new drivers to conducting ride-alongs and performance audits, you'll be the driving force behind our high service standards.

Yours responsibilities include:

  • Train and mentor new owner-drivers to meet the Smartways Standard — covering safety, quality, customer service, and operational excellence.
  • Conduct on-road assessments and annual driver audits, ensuring compliance with safety and company procedures.
  • Identify skill gaps and deliver constructive feedback that lifts driver performance and confidence.
  • Engage with hospital and clinic staff during audits to ensure our service always meets the highest expectations.
  • Collaborate with management to refine training programs and promote the importance of high quality and service across the team.

What you will bring to the role:

  • A proven background as a professional driver (HC/MC license preferred), or experience in driver training, coaching, or supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of transport legislation, fatigue management, and logistics best practices.
  • An engaging communicator who can inspire, coach, and mentor drivers with professionalism and patience.
  • A commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and exceptional service delivery.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with operations teams.
