Payroll Officer – Aged Care:
Payroll Officer will ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll every fortnight.
You have a strong understanding of payroll legislation, modern awards and industry EBA and have experience in handling pay queries.
Based on Support Office in Hawthorn this role is an integral part of payroll and Finance team.
In this role you will:
- Processing New staff contracts, terminations and amendments with accuracy
- Process workers compensation claims, reconciling reimbursements and correspondence.
- Assist with rightly pay processing for the group.
- Assist with preparing payroll reports
- Update Workcover staff listing and their Certificate of capacity expiry dates.
- Assist with reconciling salary packaging accounts and liaising with the external provider
- Process pay queries in a professional manner by liaising with homes and P&C team as relevant to collate required information to deliver timely resolution
- Provide advice and education to employees in relation to pay issues, award changes, new policies etc.
- End of financial year payroll processing. Including the balancing and production of payment summaries through STP
- Support the Payroll function and broader finance team with process mapping, approaching tasks and service offering with a process improvement lens.
- Update and maintain payroll procedure documents
- Support with collating the preparation of all State and Federal tax obligations including PAYG tax, Payroll tax and Superannuation Guarantee contributions
- Attend education sessions on payroll legislation updates.
What you Bring to the Role:
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within health or aged care.
- Understanding of payroll compliance, taxation, superannuation and Workcover legislation
- Ability to interpret Modern Awards, EBAs, common law contracts and other state and industry legislation
- Knowledge of the following awards is advantageous:
Health Professionals and Support Services Award
SCHADS Award
Aged Care Award - Knowledge of general payroll practices, procedures and operations
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Honesty, integrity and discretion
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of the broader team
- Ability to build rapport through excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Advanced computer software skills, Word and Excel and other accounting / payroll packages
- Bachelor's Degree in finance or Economics, Certificate III in Business or Certificate III in Financial Services
- NDIS Worker screening clearance
