Purpose of the Position:

The role of I
ndustrial designer is an essential role to ensure Cyplex is able to meet and exceed the expectations of our clients for innovative and practical solutions to their point of sales needs. This role works closely with both the sales and factory teams to understand design briefs and create solutions that are suitable for effective manufacture and result in satisfied, repeat customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult effectively and constructively with the sales team and clients about design requirements
  • Clarify and resolve design concerns to meet agreed outcomes
  • Investigate, test and suggest appropriate materials and production processes to ensure Cyplex's ability to produce cost effective and long-lasting items
  • Provide detailed and accurate feedback to sales team to inform negotiation and agree budgets and time-scales for factory production processes
  • Ensure concepts are closely aligned to requirements through the production of detailed sketches, engineering drawings, renders, samples and quality control procedures
  • Collaborate with the sales team, as required, to present designs, samples and final work to customers for review and evaluation
  • Accurately test product designs using models and prototypes (in store environments) to evaluate product safety, appearance, and function to determine if a design has met all practical and client requirements
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge of current design trends, materials and influences
  • Prepare production-ready files to both the inhouse and offshore production teams (CAD files, engineering drawings, artwork/prepress, instructions)
  • Collaborate closely with the factory team to, resolve any product faults or manufacturing concerns relating to the design, time for production or materials issues, including manufacturing process efficiencies
  • Provide mentorship and training to other designers
  • Any other tasks relevant to the role as directed by the Managing Director, Head of Projects and Design, and Design Supervisor

  • Must be highly proficient in Solidworks and Adobe Creative Suite
