About the role
As part of the Non Family Based Care (NFBC) team you will coordinate care for children and young people under statutory orders placed in our 24/7 residential or Supported Independent Living Service (SILS). You will ensure clients have access to required supports, activities, development opportunities and living arrangements that are stable, safe, nurturing, trauma informed, affirming of culture, connected to community and which are age and stage appropriate.
Working closely with each child and young person (and others involved in their care, support and cultural identity) you will develop, implement and review Support Plans that are informed by their strengths, needs, preferences and aspirations. You will assist each child and young person to navigate their journey 'into, through and out of' placement ensuring their voice is central, that progress is made towards development milestones and or the transition to independent living and connection to ongoing supports.
To Be Successful You Will Need
- Preference is for tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences. *Note a Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention(or equivalent Child Safety approved course) combined with 5 years' relevant experience may be considered.
- Strong record of working with children / young people from diverse cultural backgrounds in statutory care who have experienced trauma, serious adverse childhood experiences and or have complex care needs and an understanding of the child safety system.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and apply positive behaviour strategies, relational and trauma informed approaches combines with a commitment to ensuring children and young people are central to decision making and culturally safe.
- Prior experience in case management / casework / support coordination / needs assessment, the ability to navigate service systems and to develop, implement and review support plans and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrated skills in risk assessment, responding effectively to crisis situations and incident reporting.
- Prior staff supervision and or line management experience.
- Demonstrated administrative, data entry, computer, report writing skills and the ability to learn new systems and data bases.
- Track record of strong Teamwork, collaborative practice and ability to guide the work of direct care staff.
- Experience working with First Nations people, families, Organisations and communities.
Compliance
- Evidence of mandatory qualifications
- Satisfactory outcome of a current (less than 3 months old) National Criminal History Check
- Blue Card (QLD working with children card)
- LSC2 (child safety screening check)
- QLD drivers' licence 'Class C' or interstate equivalent
- Ability (and willingness) to participate in a rostered (shared) 24/7 On Call system
- Required to transport clients and or to visit clients in their place of residence or within another out of office setting
- Out of hours work may be required from time to time
- Ability (and willingness) to undertake local area / regional travel
- First Aid certificate
