RN Coordinator / Registered Nurse

We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse Coordinator to join the NQ Quality Care team in Townsville. This role blends clinical nursing responsibilities with service coordination, providing holistic support to NDIS participants and mentoring to our dedicated care team.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Nursing

  • Collaborate with Medical Practitioners and Allied Health Professionals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Administer medication and provide complex clinical care (palliative care, Peg Feed, Stoma care, bowel care, catheter care, oxygen administration, wound care, Healthcare plans).
  • Undertake nursing assessments and develop personalised care plans in consultation with participants and families.
  • Monitor participants' health and wellbeing, providing feedback and reporting progress.
  • Deliver services in line with NDIA guidelines, laws, and professional nursing standards.
  • Deliver training on complex care

Service Coordination

  • Develop and implement NDIS participant plans in collaboration with participants, families, and carers.
  • Coordinate supports to ensure participants receive timely and appropriate care.
  • Liaise with support workers, service providers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Review participant progress regularly and advocate for access to appropriate resources.
  • Provide participants with guidance on NDIS processes and their rights.

Training & Leadership

  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance to Quality Care Workers, Enrolled Nurses, and Case Managers.
  • Develop and deliver training materials for participant-specific needs.
  • Conduct skills assessments and identify training opportunities to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Contribute to management and client meetings as required.

About You

You are a compassionate and organised healthcare professional with strong clinical skills and a passion for empowering people with disabilities. You bring a collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to balance hands-on nursing with coordination and leadership.

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor of Nursing & current AHPRA registration (mandatory).
  • Experience in community care, health, or aged care settings.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certificate.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check & Blue Card (or willingness to obtain).
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence and reliable, insured vehicle.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

  • Previous community nursing experience or knowledge of DVA community nursing guidelines.
  • Cert IV in Training & Assessment.
  • Strong knowledge of the NDIS framework and person-centred support.
  • Qualifications in Disability Services, Social Work, or related fields.
  • Experience supporting participants from CALD or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
