Installation Technician

Short Summary:

Reporting to a Project Manager you will play an important role in our delivery team responsible for installing and configuring AV/VC systems for our clients.

Your expertise in setting up audio, video, and control systems will ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of AV equipment in various environments such as in Higher Education, Corporate, Government and not-for profit organisations.

The role may, from time to time, provide support to our Technical Support Team with installation and commissioning activities and to our clients with onsite concierge support type engagements.

What about the role:

Installation and Configuration

• Install audio-visual equipment including projectors, displays, speakers, microphones, racks, lecterns and control systems according to design specifications.

• Configure AV systems for optimal performance, ensuring audio clarity, video resolution, and seamless integration with existing infrastructure.

• Program control systems and interfaces to meet client requirements.

Testing and Troubleshooting

• Conduct thorough testing of installed AV systems to ensure functionality and performance meet specifications.

• Troubleshoot technical issues during installation and post-installation phases.

• Collaborate with technical support teams and manufacturers to resolve complex issues.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of installations, configurations, and troubleshooting activities.

• Document system designs, wiring diagrams, and equipment settings.

• Provide detailed reports to project managers and clients regarding installation progress and system performance.

Client Training and Support

• Train clients on the use and operation of installed AV systems.

• Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clients as needed.

• Ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction throughout the installation process and beyond.

Safety and Compliance

• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines during installation activities.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to AV installations.

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas and equipment.

What experience or qualifications do I need:

• Proven experience as an AV Installer or similar role in the audio-visual industry.

• In-depth knowledge of audio-visual systems, equipment, and components.

• Familiarity with AV control systems such as Crestron, Extron, or AMX.

• Experience with video conferencing systems (e.g., Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms).

• Knowledge of networking fundamentals and IP-based AV systems.

• Strong technical skills in wiring, soldering, and equipment setup.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

• Understanding of quality assurance and WHS requirements.

• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Driver's License and, Construction Industry White Card are both required.

• Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform, Manual Handling, ACA Cabling License and Working with Children certificates are all desirable.
