Primary objective

As part of the College Leadership Group, the Faculty Coordinator-Supported Learning provides College wide support to staff

implementing the Northern Territory Department of Education's policies and procedures as they pertain to the education of

students with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Context Statement

Casuarina Senior College (CSC), is an independent public school, located in the Darwin northern suburbs. CSC has a student

enrolment of approximately 800 students, with 30 per cent identifying as Aboriginal. CSC caters for students in Years 10 to

12 by offering a wide range of Stage 1 and 2 NTCET subjects. The college is a centre for excellence in the medical and health

sciences and STEM areas.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Coordinate and oversee the provision of education outcomes as they relate to students with disabilities.

2. Lead staff in providing pedagogical and curriculum expertise that maximises student engagement, retention, and

achievement to students with disabilities.

3. Coordinate resources and manage staff attached to the supported learning team, to optimise learning outcomes for

students with a disability in compliance with Northern Territory DoE policies and procedures.

4. Provide leadership for teacher professional practice, in relation to working with students with disabilities and managing

student special provisions for the NTCET for these students.

5. Provide school-wide leadership through active involvement in whole school decision making, planning and revision of

procedures. This is demonstrated through active involvement within the college leadership group.

6. Undertake a teaching load.

Selection Criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated working knowledge of National and DoE policies and procedures relating to students with a disability in

education.

2. Proven ability to work with a range of stakeholders both internal and external to the school to develop appropriate plans

to ensure the needs of students with disabilities are met.

3. Demonstrated ability to provide pedagogical and curriculum solutions to maximise student welfare, engagement,

retention, and achievement for those students identified as supported learning students.

  1. Proven ability to manage staff, recruitment, and professional development, and provide coaching or mentoring in the

areas of curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and the use of student data.

5. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of curriculum and teaching in a special education setting.
