Coordinate and teach Indigenous Knowledge and Indigenous Education units at Charles Darwin University (CDU)

About the Position

As the Lecturer in Indigenous Knowledges - Education, you will be responsible for teaching units and programs offered by the Faculty of Arts and Society through a stream of specialist Indigenous Knowledge and Indigenous Education units that have been developed for delivery within the courses offered by the Faculty. Further tasks involve unit coordination as required; curriculum development, contribution to the Faculty's research agenda, publications, and external short course and/or consultancy delivery.

The Coordinator of the Remote Aboriginal Teacher Education (RATE) Project at CDU leads the delivery of this flagship program, working closely with Aboriginal communities, students, and stakeholders to strengthen culturally responsive teacher education pathways. The role is responsible for coordinating program operations, supporting student success, and building strong partnerships across the Northern Territory

About You

To be successful, you will require:

• A Higher Degree by Research or coursework Masters in relevant discipline and/or relevant professional experience in the fields of Indigenous Knowledges and Indigenous Education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of current Indigenous social, cultural, political and economic issues particularly in relation to Indigenous education and the application of this knowledge in current contexts locally, nationally and internationally.
• Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and independently to sustain high level performance, prioritisation and working under pressure.
• Have an emerging research profile of publications/research projects or a progress towards a research plan.
• Demonstrated capacity and commitment to undertake research related to the fields of Indigenous Knowledge and Indigenous Education.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated understanding of a university learning environment and equity programs and providing supportive education to people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds and varying age groups.
• Demonstrated high level competencies and proven ability to teach specialisations in relation to Indigenous Knowledges and Indigenous Education; and the ability to manage unit (subject) teaching in internal and distance education modes, including through online platforms.
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of current digital literacies development and practices in education.  The ability to represent the University at a range of forums, and to liaise, communicate, negotiate and collaborate with clients, stakeholders and partners, to deliver a valued service and achieve agreed outcomes.
• Demonstrated capability to develop curriculum in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework and create 21st Century learning experiences for higher education students.
• Excellent professional teamwork and communication skills, including oral, written, information communication technology (ICT) and interpersonal skills.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at HE Academic Level B. The base salary will be in the range of $112,710 - $133,262 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $131,870 - $155,916 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
