About the role:

Are you detail-oriented, passionate about public service, and ready to make a difference in your community? Council is seeking a motivated Finance Support Officer to join our Finance team and contribute to the efficient delivery of financial services across the organisation.

Position Description is attached outlining experience and qualifications requirements:

In this dynamic role, you'll:

  • Provide accurate, timely, and efficient financial and administrative support to the finance team in accordance with local government policies, procedures, and statutory requirements
  • Contribute to the sound financial management and accountability of the council, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and supporting service delivery across the organisation.
  • Play a key role in supporting the delivery of financial services including accounts payable and receivable, budget monitoring, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support and assistance across the Finance team to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of financial services throughout the organisation.

What we're looking for: Essential and Desirable

  • Qualification in a relevant discipline or willingness & ability to undertake studies in Accounting or Finance (online training or by correspondence)
  • An understanding of local government finance and records management systems.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Council's financial and payroll systems (SynergySoft and Definitiv), including the ability to troubleshoot, reconcile data, and support team users
  • Working knowledge of Council electronic document record management system (MagiQDocs)
  • Sound oral and written communication skills with clients, colleagues, and members of the public
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all financial and administrative tasks
  • Working knowledge of established Local Government work practices, procedures, policies, and regulations
