About The Role
The Women & Girls Game Development Action Plan, first developed in 2022, is a strategic initiative aimed at achieving gender equity in Australian football by 2030. It focuses on increasing participation and representation of women and girls across all facets of the game, including playing, coaching, umpiring, officiating, and governance. The plan is structured in phases, with Phase 2 of the plan covering The plan aligns with the broader Women's Football Vision, which outlines the AFL's commitment to the continued progression of the game for women and girls across all levels of Australian football.

The Women and Girls Participation Lead (NSW/ACT) will deliver NSW/ACT's strategic actions and initiatives as part of the AFL Women & Girls Game Development Action Plan.

The Women & Girls Participation Lead Will

  • Support AFL staff with the establishment and implementation of All-Girls participation offerings – including Auskick, Superkick, Nines and school competitions
  • Provide support to AFL staff, clubs and Centre coordinators in the delivery of all-girls offerings.
  • Support the competitions team and/or leagues in growing the number of clubs participating in and total participation in Under 9 (or region's equivalent) competitions.
  • Regularly monitoring AskNicely participant feedback for Auskick & Under 9 Girls and supporting staff, clubs & Centre's to improve participant experience
  • Deliver other targeted initiatives to improve retention of girls' participants in programs and competitions
  • Support national campaigns to help provide participants with a connection with their local junior club
  • Support the Participation Program Action Plans (Auskick, Superkick, Nines & School Competitions), Cultural Diversity, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Disability Action Plans as it relates to Women & Girls
  • Contribute to key projects related to the Women & Girls Game Development Action Plan
  • Support and contribute to the success of the broader Game Development team
