Blacktown Girls High School is focused on helping young women become independent and motivated learners. We use explicit and effective teaching methods to nurture independent thinkers, resilient and caring individuals, skilled problem solvers, and lifelong learners. Our goal is to provide a well-rounded, challenging, and inclusive education, captured in our motto, "The School that Makes a Difference."As a partially selective girls high school with over 1,070 students, we serve a diverse community; approximately 88% of our students come from a Language Background Other than English, and 2.5% identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. Our school is on the land of the Dharug people and we honour elders, both past, present and emerging.

Selection CriteriaApplicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a faculty, including supporting a team to develop and implement effective teaching strategies to support English as an Additional Language or Dialect learners (EAL/D).
- Ability to lead High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) programs, including identification and program planning to enrich student learning.
- Strong skills in overseeing whole-school data collection and analysis of NAPLAN, Check In assessments, Minimum Standards, and EALD surveys.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the school's executive team to build staff capacity fostering a culture of continuous improvement for a diverse student population.
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
