About the role
Adelaide Holistic Care is seeking a caring and compassionate Disability Support Worker to join our team in Mitchell Park, SA. This is a casual position that will involve providing one-on-one support to clients with a range of disabilities, helping them live independently and participate actively in their community.
What you'll be doing
- Assist clients with daily living tasks such as personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping
- Medication administration and management
- Therapeutic engagement to provide psychosocial support when in distress
- Provide companionship and support clients to engage in social and recreational activities
- Advocate for clients' rights and encourage independence, dignity, and community participation
- Maintain clear and accurate client records and reports
- Collaborate with the wider care team to develop and implement individual support plans
What we're looking for
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support(disability) or equivalent qualification
- Experience providing direct care and support to people with disabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with clients
- Understanding of person-centred approaches and a commitment to empowering clients
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge and understanding of mental illness and psychosocial disabilities
- Experience working with behaviours of concerns/challenging behaviours
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Children Check
- Reliable car and SA driving licence
- Flexible to work weekdays and weekends
- Available to work minimum 4 days/week
