The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Fielders/Lysaght business in our Wangara team as a Transport Manager.  Fielders/Lysaght manufactures and markets steel building products across Australia. We deliver customer-inspired outcomes that support architects, engineers, builders, installers and property owners in creating their vision.

In this key leadership role, you will provide timely and accurate reporting, forecasting and planning support to the Wangara team to ensure our products reach our customers reliably and on-time. This is achieved through your contributions to the safe and efficient movement, with delivery of all our products arriving to our customer delivery destinations.

This role will require you to lead a team of 30 employees in the day and afternoon shifts, with flexible work hours predominantly during the day shift. You will support the logistics function across all the 3 shift teams, including night shift. In an overlapping arrangement, you will be required to oversee the end-to-end process across the 3 shifts.

What Will You Do?

While leading your team and having a direct impact on the delivery performance of BlueScope, this role will see you:

  • developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, customers and other key stakeholders
  • support operational contractor management, cost efficiencies and prompt service with a view to operational efficiency
  • collaborating closely with the logistics companies and carriers to ensure on-time deliveries, resolve issues promptly and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • ensure compliance with statutory requirements, standard operating procedures (SOPS) and audit requirements
  • provide coaching and mentoring to direct reports and team members
  • champion a culture of accountability by setting clear expectations, defining roles and responsibilities and holding team members to high standards
  • Ensure load scheduling meets chain of responsibility requirements
  • Ability to motivate and influence to achieve well-informed, positive outcomes.
