Job details

Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Specified Personnel will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to:

• Delivering results that adhere to relevant Commonwealth standards, policies, and compliance obligations. Executing regular audits to ensure alignment to changing requirements;
• Implementing and configuring security controls across various cloud services to protect data and applications;
• Contributing to the development and implementation of the roadmap for centrally managed cloud platform products and services;
• Providing technical expertise to projects and business areas, leading the technical delivery. Working with relevant technical teams to plan, design, and implement cloud and business solutions;
• Managing product teams and cloud platform consumers to provide guidance to enhance the capabilities to self-serve;
• Maintaining organisational vision for the cloud platforms, contributing to the strategies for the future development initiatives;
• Identifying and analysing efficiencies to maximise the value of the cloud platform for the enterprise;
• Ensuring that the product backlog is visible, transparent and clear;
• Managing, educating & facilitating the Cloud platforms information,cloud adoption and support;
• Designing Platform solutions that align to secure cloud architectures, and secure by design principles;
• Conducting technical risk assessments of cloud infrastructure and applications to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend countermeasures;
• Providing technical solutions that are within the Department's Azure and AWS enterprise pattern;
• Ensuring technical optimisation of the Department's cloud environments;
• Networking the LAN, WAN and VPN networks;
• Producing high standard of results, which are in budget and within tight timeframes;
• Supporting the teams for out of hours arrangements.

The Specified Personnel will also be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to:

• Documenting design and patterns for continued use;
• Technical specifications using the Department's templates;
• Service design documentation.

All deliverables performed by the specified personnel must:

1. be performed or delivered promptly and without delay in accordance with the timeframes notified by the buyer from time to time; and
2. meet the assessment and performance criteria set out in any monitoring and performance assessment processes notified to the seller from time to time.

Technical skills:

•Highly proficient with major cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.

•High level skills cloud networking concepts.

•High level skills cloud security.

•High level skills in automation and scripting such as Python and PowerShell.

About the team:

The Cloud Platforms Team is responsible for overseeing the departments multi-tenant cloud environments, providing the foundational platforms and centralised services to underpin the departments cloud enablement and capabilities.

About the project:

The program delivers a wide range of infrastructure focused initiatives to modernise the platforms in which the Department builds its systems and applications on. As the Department continues to expand its business operations into cloud environments, the Branch requires the services of highly experienced AWS and Azure Cloud Experts to assist with building in house capability and to build and support cloud environments
