Laneway Talent is partnering with a leading federal government agency to recruit a Senior Infrastructure Engineer in Canberra. This role offers the chance to contribute to high-profile projects that directly support national priorities and digital transformation.

This is an initial 12-month contract with strong potential for extension based on performance and project outcomes. To be considered, you must be eligible to obtain NV1 security clearance.

We are seeking a
Senior Gateway Engineer
to play a critical role in managing and maintaining secure ICT platforms and gateway infrastructure. You'll work with third-party suppliers, architecture, and shared services teams to ensure robust operations and safeguard digital services.

This role requires at least 5 years' experience in the design, management, and maintenance of internet gateways and/or large-scale data centre networking environments. You'll bring strong technical expertise, sound judgement, and the ability to operate with a high level of independence.

In This Role You Will:

  • Design, implement and support infrastructure to meet future demand
  • Provide technical expertise for builds, testing and solution deployment
  • Prepare and maintain design, implementation, test and support documentation
  • Contribute to strategies, policies, procedures and change initiatives
  • Advise senior executives and mentor colleagues as the subject matter expert
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend suitable solutions
  • Partner with agencies and service providers, attending forums to influence outcomes
  • Promote innovation, continuous improvement and support ICT strategy
  • Manage backup, high availability, disaster recovery, patching and gateway operations

Your Toolkit:

  • Proven capability in designing services with F5/Blue Coat Layer 4–7 switching, load balancing and proxy systems
  • Skilled in designing and deploying network infrastructure including Cisco ACI, routers, Nexus switches, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
  • Strong background with or solid understanding of Palo Alto firewalls and IPS solutions
  • Hands-on expertise in implementing VPN technologies, email and DNS (Infoblox) solutions
  • Track record in integrating hybrid and public cloud services
  • Ability to develop and maintain system architecture and design documentation
  • Knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual and the Essential Eight
