- National food manufacturing footprint – Multi-site accountability
- Reports directly to the CEO – Pivotal commercial and operational influence
About Us:
With a proud heritage dating back to 1929, Edlyn Foods has grown from humble beginnings into a nationally recognised Australian foodservice manufacturer, supplying a broad range of quality Beverage, Bakery, Dessert, Condiment and Culinary products to the foodservice industry.
With manufacturing facilities in Victoria (Epping & Maryborough), Queensland (Nerang) and South Australia (Dublin), and supported by national sales and distribution networks, Edlyn Foods is continuing its trajectory of strategic growth and operational excellence and as part of our continued evolution, we are now seeking a senior and commercially astute procurement professional to join our executive leadership team as Head of Strategic Procurement.
The Opportunity:
Reporting directly to our Chief Executive Officer, this senior leadership role will oversee and elevate Edlyn's group procurement strategy, governance and commercial capability.
This role is not a direct manager of our existing Procurement function, but rather a strategic leadership position responsible for shaping procurement direction, setting enterprise-wide sourcing and supplier engagement frameworks and embedding best-in-class practices to ensure commercial, operational and reputational outcomes.
You will serve as a trusted commercial advisor to the CEO and executive team, working in close partnership with site leaders, the Procurement Manager and the Finance function to align sourcing activities with long-term business goals, capital planning and risk resilience.
Your responsibilities will be wide ranging with some of the main tasks for this role being (but not limited to):
- Develop and lead Edlyn's enterprise procurement strategy across categories, sites and supplier tiers, aligning sourcing activities with long-term business goals and capital planning.
- Lead high-value and strategic sourcing projects, including new category strategies, commercial partnerships and long-term agreements.
- Establish group-wide performance metrics and reporting systems for procurement effectiveness, value generation and supplier performance.
- Serve as the commercial lead for supplier negotiations involving multi-site agreements, new ventures, capital projects, or complex contractual terms.
- Champion ethical sourcing, sustainability and supply chain transparency across the organisation, embedding best practices.
- Contribute to M&A assessments and integration planning from a sourcing perspective, ensuring smooth transitions and strategic alignment.
- Champion supply risk mitigation strategies and scenario planning, including direct importation and global supply management, to ensure continuity and resilience.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (CEO, Operations, Finance, Quality) to ensure procurement is aligned with company-wide initiatives and long-term strategic objectives.
Key Criteria for Success
To excel in this role, you will demonstrate expertise and experience in the following areas:
- Global Sourcing & Direct Importation: Proven hands-on experience managing international suppliers, customs, trade compliance and FX risk.
- Commercial & Financial Acumen: Advanced understanding of cost modelling, long-term contracts, risk mitigation and supplier ROI.
- Strategic Procurement Expertise: Track record of developing and leading procurement strategy across multiple sites and high-value categories.
- Executive Collaboration: Experience partnering with executive leadership teams to influence board-level decisions and strategic outcomes.
- Supplier Negotiation & Governance: Expertise in supplier negotiations and governance, including managing performance KPIs and supplier scorecards.
- Technology & Data Proficiency: Proficiency in procurement systems (ERP, e-sourcing), using data to drive decision-making and enhance risk visibility.
- Sustainability & Ethical Sourcing: A demonstrated impact on embedding ESG and ethical frameworks, including modern slavery compliance.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to mentor, collaborate and upskill teams while maintaining strong relationships across functions.
- Communication & Influence: Strong presenter and persuasive communicator with the ability to influence at an executive level.
Who we are looking for :
We are seeking a commercially minded procurement executive with the strategic thinking, influence and leadership to elevate procurement from a support function, to a strategic business enabler. Coming from a well-established career, you will possess:
- Minimum 10+ years' senior-level procurement or commercial sourcing experience in food manufacturing, FMCG or similar sectors.
- Proven success in leading strategic sourcing, contract negotiation and supplier governance across multiple sites or business units.
- Deep understanding of supply risk, commercial law principles and ethical sourcing frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with CEOs or executive leadership teams on commercial strategy and supplier alignment.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen – with expertise in cost modelling, capital planning and long-term contract structures.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working across functions (Operations, Finance, Procurement, Quality).
- Familiarity with ERP systems, procurement technology and data-driven reporting frameworks.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, with sound judgment and the ability to influence strategic decisions.
This is a rare opportunity to influence our group-wide commercial outcomes and embed a mature procurement model into an already high-performing and values-led Australian manufacturer. We will be offering an executive-level remuneration package structured to attract and retain the successful applicant.
