Canteen is all about supporting young people and their families affected by cancer. Founded by young cancer patients, we offer programs and resources that truly make a difference for 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis, supporting a loved one, or grieving. Together, we believe our team can create real change.

We are now seeking a Receptionist - National Office, who will play a pivotal role in managing reception and assisting with office administration at Canteen's National Office in Sydney. The Receptionist is to represent Canteen in a polite and professional manner, responding to enquiries via email, phone and in person. The Receptionist is also responsible for administrative functions including, but not limited to, travel bookings, expense reconciliations and internal event planning.

  • Base Salary + Superannuation + Not-For-Profit Salary Packaging (up to $18,550 of your salary tax-free).

About our role

  • Providing a friendly, professional welcome to all visitors at Canteen's National Office.
  • Answering all phone and email enquiries in a polite and helpful manner.
  • Responding calmly to distressed callers and directing these to appropriate staff.
  • Processing credit card expenses and invoices.
  • Booking flights and hotels for Canteen staff and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring a seamless courier and mail service for the National Office.
  • Managing orders of stationery and office consumables.
  • Organising staff social events and other events held in the National Office.
  • Coordinating building and office equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Scheduling biannual emergency warden training and evacuation procedures.
  • Ensuring the office is kept clean and presentable at all times.
  • Assisting with projects and ad hoc requests as they arise.

About You

  • 1 - 2 years' experience in a similar position.
  • Demonstrated administration or customer service experience.
  • Ability to respond calmly to distressed callers.
  • Experienced with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willing to undertake First Aid and Emergency Warden training.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A high level of confidentiality, honesty, and commitment.
  • A proactive and positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Warm, compassionate, and friendly approach to supporting our young people.

Employment Expectations

  • Successfully complete and maintain a current National Police Check and Working with Child Check relevant to the individual's state jurisdiction.
  • Undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment to guarantee the safety of all Canteen's stakeholders.
  • Provide at least two direct referees to ensure a successful reference check is completed.
  • Provide relevant copies of professional qualification/s stated on the application.
