Medical Records Clerk

  • Permanent Part time - $34.65 and $ Super + benefits

We are looking for a Clerical Officer to join our Medical Records team on a permanent part-time (0.5FTE / 38hrs per FN/ 2.5 days per week) basis with the potential to pick up additional shifts in other areas of the hospital such as administration or reception.

The Medical Records Clerk's primary function is to manage and maintain patient medical records, ensuring their accuracy, organization, and accessibility. You will play a vital role in supporting patient care, legal compliance, and administrative efficiency.

As a Medical Records clerk, your responsibilities will include:

  • Data Entry and Record Management: Accurately recording and updating patient information in electronic or paper-based systems.
  • Record Organization: Filing, retrieving, and maintaining patient records in a logical and efficient manner.
  • Communication: Responding to inquiries and requests from patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Compliance: Adhering to privacy regulations and confidentiality policies.
  • Support for Audits: Assisting with internal and external audits.
  • Scanning and Provision of Records: Providing access to medical records and documentation required for patient care.
  • Liaising with Staff: Working with medical staff to address issues related to missing documents or clinical notes.
  • Database Management: Creating and maintaining a database of patient records.
  • Security: Ensuring the security of patient files and databases.

Essential Criteria:

  • Organizational Skills: Keeping records organized and readily accessible.
  • Communication Skills: Effectively communicating with patients and healthcare staff.
  • Data Entry and Computer Skills: Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other software.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Addressing issues related to missing documents or data discrepancies.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of private sector funding models in Australia
  • Knowledge of WebPAS patient information system
