We are moving from a successful pre-launch phase to Series A readiness, and we need a proven technology leader to architect our next phase of growth.

We are a passionate, driven team of founders seeking an experienced, visionary Head of Engineering to own the technical roadmap, scale our platform, and build a world-class engineering culture from the ground up.

The Role: Define, Architect, and Scale Our Future

You will join the Executive Team, reporting directly to the Founder/CEO/CTO, and will be the ultimate owner of the technology strategy, architecture, and engineering execution across the entire company. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires both deep technical skill and executive-level strategic foresight.

Core Responsibilities & Strategic Imperatives:

• Technical & Architectural Ownership: Define and own the 3-year technical roadmap required to scale the platform (mobile, web, backend) from thousands to millions of users and facilitate seamless geographic expansion.
• Product-Engineering Alignment: Partner closely with the founders to translate business goals into clear, executable engineering sprints and ensure that technical decisions are directly tied to P&L impact and product market fit.
• Team Building & Culture: Recruit, mentor, and scale a high-performing, agile engineering team (Full Stack, DevOps, Mobile). Define the standards, tools, and processes for an inclusive and efficient engineering culture.
• Security & Compliance: Establish enterprise-grade security, data governance, and compliance protocols (e.g., ISO, SOC2) required for working with large institutional clients and managing sensitive property data.
• Performance & Reliability: Ensure 99.99% uptime and peak performance across all services, implementing robust CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability tools.

What You'll Be Leading, Architecting & Developing (Our Current Stack):

This role requires the ability to lead a team working with, and strategically evolve, the following ecosystem:

• Mobile Foundation: Scaling React Native (TypeScript) and Expo for feature-rich, high-performance cross-platform applications (complex media handling, device permissions).
• Backend & Data: Defining the future architecture beyond initial services , Supabase) to ensure high scalability, fault tolerance, and cost efficiency. Experience with advanced data streaming or warehousing solutions is a major plus.
• DevOps & Infrastructure: Establishing automated, secure, and modern cloud infrastructure practices (IaC, advanced CI/CD, AWS).
• Technical Debt & Modernisation: Taking responsibility for all architectural decisions, proactively managing technical debt, and leading efforts to modernize the stack where necessary for growth.

Non-Negotiable Senior Requirements:

• 10+ years of progressive experience in software development, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role (Director of Engineering, VP of Tech, or similar) at a high-growth startup or scale-up.
• Proven success in building, scaling, and managing global/enterprise-scale software applications with millions of users.
• Demonstrated experience in owning the budget and vendor relations for the entire technology department.
• Deep executive understanding of mobile development and cloud-native architecture (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Deep executive understanding of AI, specifically within the video streaming focus and or content moderation.
• Must have experience hiring and managing multiple engineering teams.
• Exceptional executive presence with proven ability to communicate complex technical strategy to non-technical founders, investors, and the Board.

Logistics, Equity, and Compensation

• Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Executive Position.
• Location: Mandatory presence at our office in UTS Startups, Ultimo, a minimum of 3-4 days per week for critical executive alignment and team building.
• Remuneration: Highly competitive executive salary package with a significant Equity/Stock Option component tied to aggressive growth and performance milestones. This role is a key founder-level hire.
