Detailed description

PRACTICE MANAGEMENT

  • Manage all patient complaints to ensure appropriate resolution and feedback.
  • Ensure appropriate follow up of all Incident forms submitted.
  • Ensure that policies, procedures and forms are kept updated for an effective quality management system.
  • Maintain open communication with staff throughout the practice and foster teamwork.
  • Coordinate a preventative and corrective maintenance program throughout the centre.
  • Ensure the Directors are updated regarding the operation of the practice.
  • Coordinate the orientation, education and performance management processes for staff.
  • Keep abreast of all relevant regulatory requirements and ensure that systems within the practice are compliant.
  • Manage business insurances
  • Manage the building and plant
  • Manage capital assets
  • Manage Board and management meetings
  • Manage Health Fund contracts

SAFETY AND QUALITY

  • Coordinate the quality improvement program to ensure the practice meets Service/Accreditation

    Standards.
  • Oversee work health and safety activities to ensure a safe work environment for clients, community, staff and visitors.
  • Maintain knowledge of, and comply with, all relevant infection control procedures including hand hygiene and standard/transmission based precautions.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Continually develop both personally & professionally to meet the changing needs of your career & industry.
  • Attend all training sessions provided by the organisation and be actively involved in other training & development as required, including compulsory education

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

Medical Practice Management experience

Relevant Practice management/business qualification desirable

Excellent communication and organisational skills

Sounds knowledge of relevant computer software applications

MANAGEMENT OF STAFF, DOCTORS AND ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

  • Manage the management team including the Administration and Clinical Managers to achieve the goals of the business.
  • Develop/assist with Rosters.
  • Authorise recruitment of orthoptic, nursing and administration staff.
  • Assist in recruitment and manage the credentialing of Ophthalmologists.
  • Ensure all staff training is completed as required and personnel files are kept up to date in conjunction with the Clinical and Administration managers

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

  • Manage cash patient reconciliation.
  • Manage the checking, transmission and processing of Medicare and DVA billing.
  • Manage employee payroll.
  • Manage banking and Accounts Receivable with Bookkeeper.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Act in a professional manner at all times when dealing with internal & external customers.
  • Positively promote the organisation both internally & externally.
  • Provide courteous service to patients, colleagues and the broader community.
  • Maintain confidentiality on all issues relating to the practice, patients & colleagues.
  • Treat all patients with respect & equality, whilst being responsive to their needs.
  • Act as an advocate to assist both patients and staff to make informed decisions.
  • Encourage relatives to participate in care planning and delivery.
  • Assist the patient when possible in the resolution of problems.
  • Comply with practice policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional and pleasing telephone manner and be responsive to telephone
