This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated solicitor with 2–5 years' post-admission experience to join our Group Support Office in Brisbane. You'll gain hands-on exposure to a wide range of construction, contract, and commercial matters while working closely with senior stakeholders, with scope to grow into more responsibility over time.
About Us
G.James Glass & Aluminium is a proudly Australian, family-owned company with more than 100 years of industry experience. Key responsibilities include:
- Contract Drafting & Review: Draft and review construction contracts (head, subcontracts, design & construct) and commercial agreements.
- Tender & Contract Advice: Advise on tenders, negotiations, and probity for medium–large scale construction projects.
- Dispute Resolution & Litigation: Manage disputes and court proceedings relating to construction and commercial matters.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks, ensuring compliance with legislation.
- Commercial Litigation: Handle breach of contract, debt recovery, and related disputes.
- Advice & Representation: Provide strategic advice and represent G. James' interests.
- Staying Current: Monitor changes in construction and commercial law.
- Business Development: Contribute to building strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
About You
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent; admission as a solicitor in Australia.
- 2–5 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in construction law, commercial litigation, or contract review.
- Strong knowledge of construction law, commercial law, and relevant legislation.
- Experience in drafting, negotiating, and litigating contracts and disputes.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and commitment to service excellence.
- Accounting qualifications (desirable but not essential).
What We Offer
- Full-time permanent role based at our Group Support Office in Brisbane.
- Competitive salary package aligned with experience.
- Benefits: 7% discounted Bupa cover + Employee Assistance Program (TELUS Health).
- Free onsite parking and a supportive, collaborative team environment.
- Genuine career progression opportunities within a large Australian family-owned business.
- Stability and excellent employment conditions with a company committed to local production and continuous improvement.
