Abilities NQ is seeking a hardworking, enthusiastic, and highly organised Children Services Coordinator to join our team in Townsville.

This role ensures that AbilitiesNQ delivers services that meet the individual goals of the young people, enabling increased independence and identity in the community. This role has face-to-face time with young people, families and employees, as well as strategic requirements such as ensuring that quality standards are met. This role is responsible for resolving and responding to organisational/ client needs both strategically and immediately as they occur.

Key Responsibilities:


• Coordinate the care and support services for young people in alignment with their individual goals and needs.


• Provide ongoing support and guidance to support staff and team leaders.


• Organise and facilitate regular team meetings, ensuring open communication within the team.


• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards across all residential care houses and within the Child Safety framework.


• Ensure effective and open communication with all stakeholders is conducted


• Manage rosters for a set caseload on an ongoing basis.


• Ensure staff training and compliance are in line with Child Safety guidelines.


• Review and provide feedback on weekly reports submitted by team leaders.


• Identify and address training gaps, ensuring the team receives the necessary training.


• Participate in on-call duties as per the rotating roster.


• Develop and maintain strong rapport with clients and families through excellent customer service.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:


• Relevant qualifications in the Child Safety Sector (or willingness to obtain).


• Previous experience within a leadership/ coordination role


• Demonstrated leadership skills, including staff supervision and performance management.


• Strong experience coordinating care and support for young people in the child safety system.


• Proven ability in mediation, negotiation, and working collaboratively with key stakeholders.


• High-level knowledge of policies, procedures, and standards relating to the Child Safety Services sector.

Required Skills:


• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.


• Strong organisational, conflict resolution, and time-management skills.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.


• Ability to problem-solve under pressure and in complex situations.


• Strong multitasking and prioritisation abilities.


• Prior experience as a team leader or coordinator within the child safety services sector is preferred.
