Working within the ANDRITZ Hydropower division in Sydney you will be joining one of the world's leading suppliers of electromechanical equipment and services for hydropower stations in the dynamically growing global renewable energy market.

We are seeking a skilled Contract Administrator to play a critical role in managing the commercial and contractual aspects of electrical and mechanical works on a major energy infrastructure project in Australia. The role involves deep familiarity with Australian standard contract practices, including AS4902, AS4000 and ideally exposure to international standards including FIDIC and NEC.

Working in close collaboration with the Project Manager and Commercial Manager you will utilise your proactive approach to change management to assist in enforcing contractual rights, cost recovery and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer electrical and mechanical contracts in accordance with Australian standards and project-specific conditions.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, project specifications, and client requirements.

  • Maintain comprehensive records within the contract/document management software of correspondence, variations, notices, and approvals.

  • Lead the preparation, submission, and defence of contractual claims, including delay, disruption, and cost compensation.

  • Respond to counterclaims with robust documentation and legal awareness.

  • Collaborate with legal advisors and commercial teams to manage disputes and avoid escalation.

  • Support procurement of electrical and mechanical packages in line with Australian public and private sector procurement frameworks.

  • Evaluate tenders, negotiate terms, and manage subcontractor performance.

  • Liaise with engineering teams to ensure technical compliance and timely delivery of electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Monitor progress and cost performance against contract milestones and budgets.

  • Prepare detailed contract status reports, risk registers, and claims logs.

  • Ensure all documentation is audit-ready and aligned with project governance requirements.

  • Ensure that all contract-related activities follow the ANDRITZ rules and standards.

  • Provide feedback and lessons learned regarding claims issues.

We're seeking someone with:

  • Demonstrated experience in contract administration for large, fixed price electrical and mechanical infrastructure projects in Australia.

  • Experience from the power generation and renewable energy industries ideally.

  • An openness to travel domestically.

  • A commercial mindset with proven expertise in managing electrical and mechanical contracts under AS 4902 & International Contract Suites.

  • A strong track record in claims preparation and defence in high-value projects.

  • Familiarity with Australian construction law, adjudication processes, and dispute resolution mechanisms.

  • Proficiency in contract/document management software (e.g., Aconex, Procore, or similar).

  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment.

  • Experience in supporting cost forecasting, cash flow analysis, and budget control would be ideal.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar is ideal.

  • Ability to take initiative and drive continuous improvements with minimal supervision.

  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to analyse and solve problems efficiently.
