Workfront is a recruitment agency who seeks suitable applicants for permanent positions for a variety of different industries.

Workfront are currently seeking a Fulltime Mechanical Fitter for a fast-growing business based in Young NSW, that has been mining and manufacturing high grade magnesium oxide products for use in agriculture, animal health, industrial and pharmaceutical processes, for over 60 years. Therefore, we are seeking a highly motivated individual who is willing to evolve and grow within the company. The salary is $73,500-$80,000 based on experience and expertise.

Duties included but not limited to:

  • Assemble, install, and maintain mechanical equipment used in mining operations, including crushers, conveyors, pumps, and hydraulic systems.

  • Conduct preventive and condition-based maintenance to mechanical/metal parts and components minimize equipment downtime and ensure optimal performance.

  • Diagnose mechanical faults and promptly repair or replace worn or faulty mechanical/metal components.

  • Set up guides, stops, control mechanisms, and flow controls on machining, welding, cutting, and shaping tools controlling flow in machines.

  • Perform alignments, adjustments, and calibrations of mechanical/metal components in rotating and fixed plant equipment.

  • Should be able to form metal stock and castings to press, cut, grind, plane, bore and drill metal

  • Responsible for maintenance of metal components in machines, mechanical parts and fluid power equipment

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manuals.

  • Operate hand and power tools, machining equipment, and lifting devices safely and efficiently.

  • Maintain accurate mechanical maintenance records and complete job cards and reports.

  • Work collaboratively with managers, engineers, operators and other trades to prioritize and execute tasks.

  • Ensure strict adherence to all site safety protocols, environmental standards, and PPE requirements.

Essential requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Work well within a team and adhere to strict company policies and procedures.

  • Willingness to work extended hours and on weekends, if required.

  • Be well-versed in English to communicate by phone, text or email with suppliers and read and understand equipment manuals and Australian standards for repair.

  • This position requires a physically fit candidate with no health problems or dust allergy issues.

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • 3 years of industrial experience to manage the responsibilities.

  • This position requires a certified/qualified tradesman from an accredited institute/university.
