Vegerama is a leading vegan restaurant and catering business in Brisbane, dedicated to creating high-quality, plant-based cuisine. With a strong focus on sustainability, creativity, and innovation, we pride ourselves on offering gourmet vegan and vegetarian platters, catering services, and a plant-based cooking school. In addition to our restaurant and catering services, we run our own Conscious Culinary School (CCS), where we provide engaging cooking workshops and events to a large and diverse audience.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Catering Head Chef with a passion for vegan and vegetarian cuisine to join our team. You will oversee the end-to-end production of catering orders — from food preparation and plating to styling and delivery coordination — while ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and presentation. This role is perfect for a chef with creativity, attention to detail, and a strong background in both savoury and pastry-based plant-based dishes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate catering operations in our central kitchen.
- Design and prepare gourmet vegan and vegetarian dishes, including savoury platters and salads.
- Demonstrate advanced skills in baking and plant-based pastry (desserts, breads, cakes).
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and presentation.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team while managing independent tasks efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and time-effective kitchen workflow
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience as a chef, ideally with catering background.
- Strong knowledge of vegan and vegetarian cuisine.
- Expertise in baking and pastry, particularly plant-based.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work under pressure.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in leading small kitchen teams.
- Interest in contributing to plant-based culinary education.
Position Details
- Casual: 2–3 days per week (primarily Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays).
- Morning shifts.
- Location: Moorooka, Brisbane.
