Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established to deliver long-duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will support the transition of Queensland's energy system. In June 2025, the Queensland Government transferred oversight of Queensland Hydro to Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC). What You'll Do
We are seeking a Financial Analyst to provide high-quality financial analysis, reporting, and advice to support effective decision-making, budget management, and strategic planning within the project. Reporting to the Lead Finance Business Partner you will partner closely with program and project leads to ensure sound financial governance, value for money, and alignment with government financial management frameworks and policies.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Prepare and analyse financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to support performance monitoring and decision-making.
- Lead of the Annual budget/Expenditure plan build process and quarterly reforecast processes
- Develop and maintain financial models to assess costs forecasting, funding scenarios, and long-term financial sustainability.
- Provide timely insights and commentary on budget performance, trends, and emerging financial risks.
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and senior leaders to develop and manage budgets, monitor expenditure, and optimise resource allocation.
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records consistent with government reporting and Queensland Audit Office (QAO) requirements.
- Support the development of financial strategies and investment planning to enable long-term delivery of project outcomes.
Who You Are
To be successful in this role, you will bring a formal qualification in accounting, finance, economics, or a related discipline, along with significant experience in financial management, analysis, or business partnering roles. Membership or eligibility for membership with a professional accounting body (CPA, CA, or equivalent) and exposure to infrastructure, or large-scale transformation project environment is desirable. In addition, to set you up for success, you will exhibit:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial management within a government or large project environment.
- Sound understanding of government financial frameworks, accounting standards, and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in financial systems including MYOB (e.g. SAP, TechnologyOne, Oracle) and advanced Excel or data analysis tools.
- Working knowledge of Contruent/Ares Prism Project Management cost management and forecasting functionality or a will to learn up.
