Primary objective

Develop, coordinate and implement a broad range of policy frameworks and initiatives supporting people with disability and

senior Territorians.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Undertake research, analysis and evaluation of a wide range of issues and emerging trends in relation to people with

disability and seniors, to ensure best practice policy and program implementation.

2. Initiate and provide high level policy advice across government concerning people with disability and seniors.

3. Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of significant policies, projects and data in line

with strategic objectives.

4. Prepare high level documentation including reports, Ministerial briefings, Legislative Assembly briefings, Cabinet

submissions and correspondence.

  1. Provide Secretariat support to relevant Ministerial Advisory Councils.
  2. Cultivate strong, effective relationships with non-government organisations, and other relevant stakeholders, in the

development and implementation of policies and programs.

7. Facilitate and coordinate regional, intergovernmental and non-government consultations, negotiations and reporting.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills, including preparation of high-level reports and

correspondence, such as Committee papers, speeches, Ministerial briefings and Cabinet submissions.

2. Highly developed analytical, advisory, research and negotiation skills with an awareness of the political, social and

economic landscape.

3. Well-developed project management skills and an understanding of and ability to utilise public sector governance

processes.

4. Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with the ability to be proactive, work independently, exercise

discretion, attention to detail and prioritise tasks.

5. High level strategic stakeholder management skills, enabling effective interaction and collaboration with a diverse range

of stakeholders, including senior government and non-government executives and the broader community.

6. A knowledge of contemporary issues, awareness and understanding of national and international policies, trends and

initiatives in relation to people with disability and seniors.

Desirable

1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.

2. Prior experience in providing Secretariat support to high-level Ministerial Councils, Committees or similar.
