Primary objective
Undertake policy development, project management, research, analysis and advice to support the delivery of Occupational
Licensing and Associations strategic and legislative priorities. Be part of the review and reform of relevant statutes and
subordinate legislation.
Context statement
Regulatory Reform sits within the Occupational Regulation and MigrationNT unit in the Business and Regions division and
has carriage of leading legislative and policy reform as relevant to the regulation of occupations and associations within the
remit of DTBAR.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist in providing strategic advice across a range of national and Territory policy and legislation that impact on
occupational licensees and associations.
2. Assist in drafting proposals to be considered by government, including regulatory reform and regulatory impact
appraisals from a divisional perspective.
3. Assist in the preparation of high-level documents such as reports, submissions, briefing notes and correspondence.
4. Conduct research, investigations and analysis on issues in the areas of the division's responsibility.
5. Assist in the review, development and implementation of relevant NT Government legislation across the work unit.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in interpretation and application of legislation,
Sound written and oral communication skills to meet the requirements of a wide range of audiences.
Experience in the development, analysis, implementation and evaluation of policies.
- Well-developed research, analytical and conceptual skills.
- The ability to respond to changing situations, set priorities, meet deadlines and produce work of a high standard both
individually and in a team environment.
6. Proven ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications, for example in law or public policy, will be highly regarded.
2. Hold or be eligible to hold a legal practising certificate.
3. Experience and understanding of policy development and associated processes.
4. Understanding of regulation of occupations and associations.
