If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as our State Workplace Health & Safety Coordinator - based in either Braeside or Heidelberg (Melbourne).

The Role

You will support and coordinate our WHS program in the largest food processing site in our group and continue to build a safety culture while ensuring compliance of our Health & Safety Management Systems and Risk Programs. Your ability to build strong relationships through visible safety management, influence others and the ability to challenge and make things right is paramount to championing best practice and maintaining a culture of "safety first".

You will maintain, implement and review relevant systems, policies and procedures. A key aspect of this role is keeping abreast of changes and providing advice and recommendations to stakeholders to ensure compliance. In addition you will also design and implement interventions to ensure continuous improvement of our high standard of safety performance across the Group.

This is a hands-on role, you will roll your sleeves up, go onto the factory floor, into the warehouses and write your reports, you are the safety team

Responsibilities

This includes, but is not limited to;

  • Lead and manage the WHS Plan
  • Develop, maintain and implement an annual program of training, audits, risk assessments, tool box talks, contractor management protocols
  • Conduct investigations of safety related incidents, liaise with all regulatory authorities and ensure any corrective actions are implemented
  • Manage the Emergency Management Program including organise annual emergency and evacuation training for all sites
  • Collaborate with cross function teams to integrate policy and proceedures
  • Monitor, analyse and improve WHS performance metrics
  • Coordinate and support the Contractor Management System
  • Draft and implement SOPs
  • Communicate, promote and manage the Company's vision with respect to WHS standards and behaviours
  • Liaise with Senior Management in the development and review of relevant safety strategies
  • Provide advice to the relevant stakeholders regarding appropriate resources required to develop, implement & maintain WHS systems and programs
  • Schedule and deliver WHS & compliance training to managers, team members and contractors
  • Provide focus and support into RTW programs and progress
  • Implement and deliver on set targets as well as monitor actual performance in relation to WHS metrics

Your skills and experience

  • Qualifications in occupational health and safety (or similar)
  • Minimum of 4 years hands-on practical experience in Senior Health & Safety role
  • Previous experience in blue collar FMCG industry highly desirable
  • Incident, investigation and root cause analysis experience
  • Ability to influence and drive change
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, reporting and analysis
  • To be successful in this role and to play a part in our ongoing success you will be an industry professional with operations experience in a senior Health & Safety role who has the influencing skills, agility and awareness to positively impact our strong safety culture.
  • An established career in Work Health and Safety with highly developed communication, negotiation, decision making and analytical skills with exceptional stakeholder management skills is essential.
