Surfing Tasmania is seeking an energetic and visionary Chief Executive Officer (Executive Officer) to lead our organisation through an exciting period of growth and transition.

This 12-month contract role is a unique opportunity to shape the future of surfing in Tasmania, strengthening community engagement, supporting grassroots development, and building strategic partnerships.

About the Role

Reporting to the Board, the CEO is responsible for overseeing all operational, financial, and strategic aspects of Surfing Tasmania. You'll work closely with Surfing Australia, sponsors, government agencies, and affiliated clubs to deliver programs, grow participation, and advocate for the development of surfing across the state.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning and drive alignment with Surfing Australia's national objectives
  • Manage day-to-day operations including finance, governance, and reporting
  • Build strong relationships with sponsors, government, and community stakeholders
  • Drive membership and club development initiatives
  • Support event planning and high-performance athlete pathways
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and sport integrity standards
  • Promote surfing infrastructure and advocacy across local and state government

About You

We're looking for a collaborative, hands-on leader who can bring energy, professionalism, and a deep appreciation for community sport. The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Proven experience in executive or senior leadership, preferably in sport, not-for-profit, or community-based organisations
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience with sponsorships, grants, and government relations
  • Sound financial and governance acumen
  • Passion for surfing or action sports is highly regarded
