Commencing 2026 | 9 hours per week (Monday & Wednesday)
Are you passionate about fostering a love of reading and supporting young learners on their educational journey? Holy Spirit Infants School, Abermain is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Library Assistant to join our vibrant school community in 2026. This permanent part-time position involves 9 hours per week — 3 hours on Mondays and 6 hours on Wednesdays.
As the only dedicated Infants school in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, Holy Spirit Infants is proud to deliver a nurturing and holistic Catholic education to our youngest students in the heart of the Hunter Valley. In this role, you will:
- As a member of the library team, work to support teachers and students in utilising library facilities and resources
- As a member of the school team, work to support nominated staff in the performance of their duties

The School Library Assistant:
- As a member of the library team, works to support teachers and students utilising Library facilities and resources
- As a member of the school team, works to support nominated staff in the performance of their duties
EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA
- Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools
- Recent experience working in a school library including working knowledge of OLIVER cataloguing system
- Knowledge of WHS requirements in a library setting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to show initiative, work alone or as part of a team
- A flexible approach to completion of tasks with frequent interruptions
QUALIFICATIONS
- ALIA accredited qualification, preferably at the diploma level
- Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number
- Completion of anaphylaxis training
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
