Job Description
We are excited to offer a permanent full time Grade 2 speech pathology opportunity to work within our Rehabilitation Speech Pathology & Dietetics department and as part of our wider multidisciplinary team

The role offers opportunities to assess, manage and provide client-centred intervention to inpatients and outpatients experiencing swallowing, communication and cognitive impairments following an acquired brain injury. If successful, you will be supported by a dedicated clinical supervisor, have access to professional development and be involved in quality improvement activities. Our speech pathology and dietetics team works collaboratively across the three Continuing Care and Support Services sites, as well as with the wider Epworth teams.

You will make an impact by-

  • demonstrating a strong working knowledge of the impact of an ABI on the person's rehabilitation journey
  • being an active member of the department and multidisciplinary team
  • actively participating in quality improvement activities
  • being committed to life-long learning and sharing knowledge and skills

To be successful in the role, you will have-

  • at least three years experience working clinically with adults
  • experience working in a sub-acute setting, across a variety of caseloads (eg- stroke, traumatic brain injury, non-stroke neurological conditions, head & neck oncology) in a hospital or community setting
  • well-developed clinical skills providing evidence-based & patient-centred interventions and education to patients and their family/carers
  • experience using a variety of cog-comm assessment and intervention tools
  • proven experience working in a multidisciplinary team, alongside consumers and families
  • competency (or working towards) administering and interpreting instrumental evaluations of swallowing (eg- VFSS/FEES)
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Eligibility for full membership of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)
  • Eligibility for Certified Practising Membership of SPA
