About the role:
Are you a Speech Pathologist wanting to work in a paediatric hospital? An opportunity exists for an experienced Grade 2 paediatric Speech Pathologist to join our growing Speech Pathology Department. Based at Joan Kirner Women's and Children's at Sunshine Hospital, this part time, ongoing position will involve assessment and management of infants and young children with complex feeding, developmental delay and/or autism. This position will also include staff supervision and clinical education.
We are seeking an experienced Grade 2 clinician to join the Western Health Speech Pathology Department. Based at Joan Kirner Women's and Children's at Sunshine Hospital, this position will involve assessment and management of infants and young children with complex feeding, developmental delay and/or autism.
Supported by a team of experienced Speech Pathologists, you will become a valued member of our highly skilled Speech Pathology team and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. You will have access to a robust supervision framework and opportunities to contribute to quality improvement initiatives and supervision of others, underpinned by Western Health's strong commitment to learning and development.
Key responsibilities:
- Assessment and management of communication and feeding difficulties in children with complex presentations
- Support the autism assessment team
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement, clinical research and professional development of self and others
- Ensure safe and high-quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and policies
About you:
- Clinical competency and theoretical knowledge in the assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders in children with complex presentations
- Knowledge of presenting issues in children with autism spectrum disorders
- Experience in autism assessment as part of a team (or willingness to complete training in the ADOS - Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale)
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia
