About us

Located at the South Melbourne Market, Smithburg is a casual All-Day-Diner that makes the most of fresh market produce and the creativity of our chefs.  Our food is incredible, led by our signature burgers, lobster rolls, pancakes and margaritas - casual American-Diner food served with cocktails and a good time.

Strap yourself in, because this is going to be a fun ride.  The market is a busy place and we need hospitality aces to make sure our customers are looked after, orders are pumping out of the kitchen and the drinks are flowing from the bar.  Extra points to those who love to curate the soundtrack to a good time.

About you

We want an up and coming chef that is keen to take their next step into our busy and creative casual food restaurant.  You love food, love to learn, and have demonstrated an ability to execute on busy shifts with a full rail of dockets.  Extra points for holding a current position where you lead shifts and have extra responsibilities like creating prep lists, leading prep and ordering stock.

Qualifications & experience

  • 3 years + in a high volume kitchen environment
  • Experience in high volume prep

  • Deliver the best food anywhere on each and every shift
  • Driving perfect food prep
  • Keep a foodsafe and incredibly clean and organised kitchen environment
  • Deliver high quality food in a high volume environment
