DIVISION SUMMARY

The
Prevention Division
aims to prevent cancer across the Australian population. This is done through mass media, advocacy, community interventions, professional education, training and providing policy advice based on the best available evidence. This involves action to affect individual behaviours and the broader physical and legislative environment to support health and wellbeing and reduce cancer risk. We prioritise health inequalities, especially in relation to Aboriginal peoples, and in culturally diverse and socio-economically disadvantaged communities.

UNIT SUMMARY

The Quit program is a joint initiative of Cancer Council Victoria, the Department of Health and VicHealth. Quit's purpose is to end the devasting impact of nicotine dependence, including the use of tobacco and vaping, on people and communities. Quitline is an integral service of Quit and is currently funded to conduct enhancement projects across multiple jurisdictions that are operated through Quit Victoria. Quit has also been provided with funding to redevelop into a national cessation platform to support all Australians who smoke and/or vape on their quitting journey.

About Your Opportunity

We are seeking a Clinical Supervisor to join the Quitline within Quit in the Prevention Division. Reporting to the Quit Medical Lead, your role includes the following:

  • Provide clinical supervision for Quitline counsellors, online and/or in-person, including individual call reflections and group supervision
  • Work closely with the Quitline team to ensure continuous improvement and quality assurance through participation in quality and governance activities
  • Support the development, review, updates and implementation of counselling protocols, procedures and training, aligned with the quality assurance and improvement requirements of the organisation
  • Support the development of evidence-based cessation resources and tools aligned with behaviour change best-practice for people who are experiencing nicotine dependence, including smoking and /or vaping and want to quit.
  • Contribute to and collaborate with internal stakeholders as required to support delivery of major strategic initiatives across Quit
  • Foster an environment of collaboration and sharing of best practice within Quit and across Divisions

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in clinical or health psychology
  • Current unconditional Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency registration and supervision status
  • Substantial experience working in a clinical role within health psychology
  • Competence in reflective supervision, and experience of group supervision, peer support and workshop facilitation
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship management, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of nicotine dependence, including smoking and vaping cessation, and clinical experience in cessation, treatments and management approaches is desirable.
