The office of the Hon Pat Conroy MP is seeking applications for a full-time, ongoing Electorate Officer B based in the Parliamentarian's Electorate Office in Belmont, NSW.
POSITION:
The diverse role of Electorate Officer provides intermediate support to the MP and Electorate Office by managing administration, communication and constituent support to the Member of Parliament to ensure the effective operation of the Electorate Office and delivery of services to the Shortland Electorate community.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide frontline support by assisting with constituent enquiries, referrals to relevant government departments and managing incoming correspondence. - Research and draft correspondence relevant to Constituent case work.
- Answer incoming calls and perform other administrative tasks, including but not limited to photocopying and data entry.
- Attend meetings, community and electorate activities when required.
- Assist with electorate events and activities, which includes occasional work outside normal office hours and some weekends.
- Other duties as requested to support the Parliamentarian and the effective operation of the Electorate Office.
- Maintain accurate records using CRM system of constituent and stakeholder contacts to ensure effective case management and follow-up.
Applicants should possess the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in communications, law, politics or related field is desirable.
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and meet competing deadlines.
- A keen interest in and understanding of Australia's system of government and parliamentary processes or willingness to learn.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills with strong attention to detail.
- Intermediate to advanced IT competence with programs such as the Microsoft 365 suite, CRM Databases.
- Experience in a similar administrative role or in a government or political setting will be highly regarded.
- Ability to engage and communicate with a broad range of people.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Reliability and professionalism in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
- Appointed Justice of the Peace or willing to obtain.
- Driver's licence and reliable transport is required.
Employment conditions:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement . which include:
A commencing salary between $76,910 - $89,793 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.
An additional optional allowance from $2,322 to $11,610 may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for reasonable additional hours of work.
Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements)
An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.

An initial probationary period of three months will apply and be subject to extension.
The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.
Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.
The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.
For staff employed by a Minister or Parliamentary Secretary either in a personal or electorate staff position, it is a condition of your employment that you obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 2 security clearance and comply with the Ministerial Staff Code of Conduct.
