The City of Subiaco is going through a transformation with significant change and evolution in terms of residential options, the commercial sector, retail, entertainment, leisure and recreation. Navigating this change in partnership with the community, business and stakeholders, whilst also celebrating Subiaco's heritage, history and culture is an exciting challenge.

This role sits in the Planning Services branch and will provide for cohesive administrative and technical support within the Planning Services team of the City of Subiaco, whilst completing entry-level planning tasks. The candidate for the position must uphold and consistently demonstrate the City's values of SUBI - Supportive, United, Bold and Impactful.

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Coordination and preparation of zoning (Orders & Requisitions) certificates.
  • Preparation of referral correspondence for development applications.
  • Advertisement preparation and lodgement.
  • Consolidation and maintenance of planning statistics for monthly reports and other purposes.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual reports.
  • Minute taking for meetings including Planning Services staff meetings, Design Review Panel (DRP) and others as required.
  • Maintenance of Planning databases and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Undertaking duty planner tasks including telephone and in-person queries.
  • Review plans and specifications to ensure that relevant information supplied is adequate and in accordance with the City's planning application checklist.
  • Acceptance of fees and preparation of receipts for cashier.
  • Undertaking entry-level statutory and strategic planning tasks, including development and subdivision applications and referrals from the State Government.
  • Ongoing training of other planning staff with software programs e.g. TechOne, Authority, Microsoft Word, CM9, CRM, IntraMaps and other software used by Planning Services.
  • Other duties as directed by the Coordinator Statutory Planning Services, Manager Planning Services or their supervisors.

Essential criteria:

  • Proven ability to deal with the public in a professional and competent manner
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated high levels of personal organisation and ability to work under pressure
  • Advanced ability and experience in using corporate computer systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience or qualifications in urban planning, local government administration or a related discipline.

Salary package:

From $74,220.64 to $84,667.44 per annum, excluding superannuation.
