About the Role
We're seeking a passionate Product Designer to join our team and create the next generation of craft kits that inspire creativity and bring joy to makers everywhere. This role combines creative design expertise with practical production knowledge to develop craft kits that are beautiful, achievable, and utterly delightful from unboxing to finished project.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Product Development
- Design innovative craft kits that balance creativity with accessibility for crafters of all skill levels
- Create comprehensive kit concepts including all tools, materials, and instructional content
- Develop product lines across our diverse range of craft types and styles
- Manage the complete product lifecycle from initial concept to customer-ready kits
- Develop and implement processes and systems to streamline product development, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration
Production & Manufacturing
- Collaborate with factories and suppliers to source quality materials and tools
- Design kits with careful consideration of packaging, shipping, and the unboxing experience
- Develop production specifications that ensure consistent quality across all kit components
- Optimise kit designs for cost-effectiveness while maintaining our premium quality standards
Customer-Focused Design
- Create craft projects that offer that perfect "me-time" creative experience
- Design clear, beginner-friendly instructions and consider video tutorial requirements
- Research craft trends and customer feedback to inform new kit development
- Ensure all kits deliver on our promise: no extra shopping needed
What We're Looking For
We want someone who gets that special feeling of creating something with your hands - and can design kits that spark that joy in others. You'll understand both the craft-lover who's been creating for years and the total newbie who's nervous about their first project. The ideal candidate combines artistic vision with practical know-how, ensuring every kit we create is achievable, enjoyable, and fun
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in product design or fashion design
- Genuine passion for and hands-on experience with crafts (paper crafts, soft crafts, needlework, etc.)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design skills and creative problem-solving
- Excellent understanding of design principles, materials, and production processes
- Ability to create technical drawings and specifications
- Strong skills in the Adobe Creative Suit and Microsoft Office (Excel and Powerpoint specifically)
- Strong project management skills with ability to handle multiple products simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Skills in technical tools, such as Gerber, Lectra or other PLM systems
- Experience in textile design or working with fabric-based products
- Background in working with commercial teams and understanding market dynamics
- Established relationships with manufacturers or production facilities
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices and eco-friendly materials
- Experience with craft industry and material sourcing
- Understanding of instructional design or educational content creation
