About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has a unique opportunity for a Senior Project Officer, Land Acquisitions to work as part of the Biodiversity and Ecological Health Branch and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.
We are seeking a driven and proactive individual who thrives in a small, agile and results-focused team environment. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing comprehensive strategies for a compulsory land acquisition program is essential.
About You
As a Senior Project Officer, you will be responsible for the planning, development, and delivery of complex acquisition initiatives that align with the strategic direction of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water and NPWS. You will play a key role in shaping and managing a high-performing program by establishing strong systems, processes, and collaborative practices to ensure efficient and effective outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to conservation and public land objectives across NSW.
We are seeking an experienced leader with a strong track record in managing compulsory acquisition programs in accordance with the
Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991
. Your attention to detail and commitment to governance across safety, cultural heritage, environmental considerations and project management will be critical to your success.
You will bring expertise in providing high-level strategic advice and insights to stakeholders, navigating emerging project challenges and supporting the development and execution of initiatives that align with defined plans, budgets, timelines, environmental goals and priorities.
Knowledge and experience
- Extensive experience managing land acquisition and transfer programs within tight timeframes and budgetary constraints, complying with legislative framework requirements under the
Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991
. - Extensive experience in analysis, problem solving, and project management with a proven ability to identify issues and manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage a project consistently deliver high-quality customer service against agreed performance standards.
Essential Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualifications in law, property valuation, land economics, or other relevant property related discipline and/or equivalent professional experience.
- Class C Driver's Licence.
