Job DescriptionAbout the Role
The Friends' School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lead Educator – Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) to join our Friends' Early Learning team.
This role will lead and support a team of educators in delivering high-quality Before and After School Care and Vacation Care programs for children aged 5–12 years. You will ensure a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment that encourages children to explore, play, and learn.
The Lead Educator will oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of developmentally appropriate programs aligned with the My Time Our Place Framework. Success in this role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and a commitment to promoting child wellbeing and professional growth within the team.
Key Focus Areas
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of educators to deliver high-quality OSHC programs.
- Oversee the development and delivery of engaging, age-appropriate educational and recreational programs.
- Ensure strict adherence to child safeguarding policies and mandatory reporting processes.
- Supervise children in your care and support colleagues in maintaining a safe and positive environment.
- Promote and model reflective practice, continuous improvement, and professional learning.
- Maintain accurate documentation of children's engagement, attendance, and wellbeing, and communicate effectively with families.
- Ensure compliance with the National Law, National Regulations, and National Quality Standards (NQS).
- Contribute to the Friends' Early Learning and OSHC Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
- Build and maintain professional, caring relationships with children, families, staff, and the wider school community.
- Support rostering, program planning, and administrative tasks as required.

Essential Qualifications
- ACECQA-approved Diploma or Degree in Children's Services, Early Childhood Education, or Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood/Primary Teaching.
- Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (employment category).
- A current National Police Check (less than 6 months old).
ACECQA-approved First Aid qualification.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience leading a team in an OSHC or school-age care setting.
- Strong knowledge of My Time Our Place Framework and National Quality Standards.
- Ability to supervise and guide behaviour positively and effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience in reflective practice, continuous improvement, and quality program evaluation.
- Ability to work safely in an early learning environment and undertake the inherent requirements of the role.
- Supportive of the Purpose & Concerns and ethos of The Friends' School.
- Previous experience in an educational environment is highly regarded.
