Position Purpose
To play a key role in supporting Defab's fabric distribution and production process by ensuring accurate measuring, cutting, wrapping, and labelling of fabric rolls. The role also involves maintaining an organised and safe warehouse environment, assisting with despatch preparation, stock handling, and general housekeeping. This position is critical to helping our warehouse run smoothly and supporting our customers with on-time, high-quality service.
Main Tasks
Core Objectives include:
- Inspect and measure finished fabric rolls to ensure quality standards are met
- Wrap canvas rolls in protective film according to company procedures
- Accurately label fabric rolls for stock control and customer reference
- Prepare fabric for despatch using shrink-wrap and strapping equipment as required
- Organise fabric rolls by batch, order, or storage location before despatch
- Assist with loading and unloading deliveries
- Place fabric rolls into warehouse racking and keep storage areas tidy and safe
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards across the inspection and despatch areas
Other Duties:
- Carry out additional tasks as directed by management or other departments
- Support other warehouse and operations staff during peak workload periods
- Take part in stocktakes and inventory checks

Qualifications
- Current forklift licence (essential)
- Basic literacy and numeracy for measurement and labelling tasks
Experience
- Previous experience in a warehouse, despatch, or manufacturing environment preferred
- Familiarity with fabric handling or inspection highly regarded

- Understanding of safe manual handling practices
- Basic knowledge of warehouse processes and procedures
