Great opportunity for a Senior Fund Accountant to develop their career as a part of our Melbourne based team. As a valuable member of the team, you will undertake fund accounting responsibilities and work closely with our senior team.

Polar 993 is seeking a full-time Senior Fund Accountant who has a strong foundation in accounting principles and a commitment to accuracy and precision. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with relevant academic credentials and accounting knowledge. The role of the Senior Fund Accountant will include overseeing day-to-day fund accounting operations for the funds that the firm acts as a trustee and responsible entity.

The role will report to the Chief Operating Officer. Polar 993 is Melbourne based.

Qualifications & experience

  • 5-7 years' experience in a Fund Accounting, ideally with a fund manager or fund administrator.
  • Degree-qualified in Accounting and/ or Finance and CPA/CA qualification.
  • Knowledge of financial instruments or other asset classes, such as property, loans or private equity.
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office suite, and generally technology savvy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and management skills
  • Must be very deadline oriented, with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to perform with a high degree of professionalism, integrity and discretion

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day fund accounting operations, including NAV calculations, fund expenses, unit pricing, income distributions, and capital transactions.
  • Assist with the review of investments across private equity, venture capital, credit and property funds.
  • Maintain accurate custody records and ensure timely settlement and reconciliation of assets.
  • Assisting the managers with the daily oversight of a team of fund accountants.
  • Review and approve fund administration processes such as capital calls, redemptions, distributions, and fee calculations.
  • Coordinate with external service providers and auditors to support compliance, tax, BAS, and audit requirements.
  • Mentor junior accounting staff and contribute to process improvements and system enhancements.
