The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and professional Operations/Administration Officer to support A/Prof Rachel Conyers, Cancer Therapies Group Leader and Director of the Children's Cancer Centre, The Royal Children's Hospital.
This pivotal role provides high-level administrative and operational support across the Cancer Therapies Group, Cancer Flagship, and Clinical Services, operating at the intersection of research, clinical practice and institutional strategy. The successful candidate will be adept at managing multiple priorities, maintaining confidentiality, and building trusted relationships across a wide network of stakeholders.
A background or strong interest in biomedical science, clinical medicine, or education will be highly regarded, particularly where it supports understanding of scientific and medical contexts.
Your Responsibilities Include
- Providing comprehensive daily administrative support, including diary, travel, correspondence, and document management for A/Prof Conyers across her multiple roles including in the research and clinical sectors
- Coordinating meetings, events, and stakeholder engagements across research, clinical, and institutional environments.
- Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and HR processes for staff and students, ensuring compliance and a smooth experience.
- Supporting research management activities including grant coordination, manuscript preparation, and data tracking.
- Managing financial processes such as purchase orders, invoicing, and budget documentation in collaboration with Finance.
- Building effective relationships with internal and external partners, ensuring clear communication and alignment of priorities across MCRI, the Royal Children's Hospital, and the University of Melbourne.
What We Need From You
- Minimum 5 years' experience providing executive or administrative support to senior leaders in a complex environment.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, plan ahead, and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven stakeholder management ability.
- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and high attention to detail.
- Tertiary qualification or background in biomedical science, health, or education highly desirable.
