About the role
We are looking for a passionate Senior Legal Assistant with experience in an Insurance law practice to join our high performing Insurance Team. This is a full-time permanent role with flexibility for those who may need it, within a friendly, and supportive environment.
As one of the most highly regarded defendant Insurance practices in Sydney, we have an enviable list of insurer, employer and government clients, who seek our legal assistance in all aspects of workers compensation.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive and proactive support to fee earners, playing a vital role in the team's success. You will also supervise other legal assistants within the team, providing them with direction and assistance where needed.
You will support one Partner in the team, who is down-to-earth, yet high performing, and is looking for a safe pair of hands to help with maintaining the practice.
The position will suit someone with a problem-solving mindset, who is highly organised and efficient. The successful candidate will have a friendly personality, enjoy working as part of a team and be willing to roll up their sleeves and pitch in.

Key responsibilities
With no day the same, your daily tasks may include:
- Assisting other secretaries in the team with training and overflow.
- Diary and file management.
- Administrative support to the partners and fee earners in the practice group.
- Opening and closing files.
- Preparing documents and correspondence.
- Inputting and maintaining data in our software application (Aderant Expert).
- Monthly billing including drafting and amending invoices.
- Uploading advices, actioning client instructions, and coordinating Independent Medical Examinations.
- Liaising with the courts, the Personal Injury Commission, and other ad hoc administrative tasks.
About you
Our ideal candidate will possess:
- At least 5 years' experience as a Legal Assistant within an Insurance law practice or firm, or similar role
- Knowledge of Insurance and/or Defendant Workers Compensation law
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in utilising Microsoft products like Outlook, with the ability to quickly grasp new applications
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong team collaboration skills.
- A desire to learn and develop new skills.
- A can do attitude
- Ability to work to deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
