A leading financial services company is seeking an experienced commercial counsel to assist their Australia-based legal team on a full-time (40 hours per week), contract/interim basis for an initial 6 month term.

Position requires specialized legal expertise in technology law to support our ongoing and future initiatives. We are seeking a lawyer with 10–20 years post-qualification experience (PQE) and a deep specialization in technology law to provide guidance on complex legal matters.

High-Level Scope of Work

  • Advising on and negotiating complex, high-value technology transactions.
  • Providing expertise in software licensing, cloud services, outsourcing, digital transformation projects, and data-related agreements.
  • Leading negotiations on multi-jurisdictional deals.

Expectations

  • Proven track record of advising major financial institutions and large corporates.
  • Extensive experience in the specific areas of software licensing, cloud services, outsourcing, digital transformation projects, and data-related agreements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of intricate regulatory, operational, and risk considerations.
  • Experience leading negotiations on multi-jurisdictional deals.

Location, Start Date and Term:

  • Role is based in Australia with expectation of three days in office weekly
  • Role is intended to be full time, up to 40 hours a week, with opportunities for additional hours, for 6 months, starting ASAP.
