We are seeking a polished, charismatic Chef De Partie to join a prestigious modern fine-dining Asian restaurant in Sydney CBD.

This is a high-impact role focused on service-facing events, creative collaboration, and elevating guest experiences rather than day-to-day kitchen operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead small, event-specific kitchen teams during service; focus on execution of a curated set menu rather than full kitchen management.
  • Work with the head chef and beverage team to design matched courses and tasting menus for special events.
  • Interact with guests during plated services or chef's table experiences, explaining dishes and elevating guest engagement.
  • Ensure plated quality, timing and presentation consistent with the restaurant's exacting standards.
  • Follow food safety and allergen protocols for each event.
  • Bring fresh ideas for seasonal dishes, limited-run menus and theatrical service moments appropriate to a high-end Asian program.

Candidate profile

  • Proven fine-dining background with experience in Asian cuisines (pan-Asian, Japanese, Cantonese, Southeast Asian or similar) at high-end restaurants.
  • Comfortable in front-of-house-facing roles and confident talking to guests about provenance, technique and tasting notes.
  • Strong plating and finishing skills; attention to precision, detail and consistency.
  • Ability to design short format tasting menus and collaborate with sommeliers and mixologists.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; professional, polished and guest oriented.
  • Flexibility for late nights, weekends and short-notice event bookings.
  • RSA and Food Safety Certification (or equivalent) required.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience as a guest or pop-up chef previously hosted by high-profile venues.
  • Established presence or network in Sydney's culinary scene.
  • Capacity to contribute to content (photos, behind-the-scenes) for the restaurant's marketing and social channels.
